TEPS is a general-purpose English proficiency test developed to have validity and high discrimination power among test takers at diverse proficiency levels, including advanced English learners.

The recent trend in language assessment is to divide language proficiency into defined levels and to develop and administer separate tests whose content and difficulty better suit a relevant proficiency level. Accordingly, the TEPS Center is conducting research on and developing an English proficiency test that is more appropriate for intermediate-level English learners than TEPS.

Through this effort, the center aims to provide an English proficiency test which is attractive and accessible to civil service exam candidates, job seekers, and middle- and high-school students.
