Course Introduction

The course consists of 4 sessions a year. Students may choose their desired sessions to begin their studies. The students will be placed in different classes based on their Korean level from 1 to 6.

The academic schedule is subject to change due to the circumstance of SNU LEI.

The levels offered at the Siheung Campus vary by session. If you are admitted to the Smart Korean Course at the Siheung Campus but your assigned level is not offered there, you may transfer to the Gwanak Campus by paying the tuition difference.

Levels 1 and 3 are typically offered during the spring/fall sessions, while levels 2 and 4 are offered during the summer/winter sessions. However, the level offerings can change based on the circumstances.

2. Course Description

  • (1)Each session consists of 10 weeks, the total of 200 hours of classes.
  • (2)Students meet four hours a day from Monday to Friday.
  • (3)Each class consists of approximately 12~15 students.
  • (4)Students may participate in various cultural experience and elective courses (Refer to the information as follows).
  • (5)Morning class runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

3. Cultural Activities (activity may vary depending on the circumstances.)

  • -Students can understand Korean culture through various cultural opportunities along with Korean language classes from Smart Korean course.
  • (1)Taekwondo
    • Visit the Taekwondo gym, watch a taekwondo demonstration, and learn basic poomsae and posture under the guidance of the master.
  • (2)Korean traditional percussion quartet (Samulnori)
    • Students visit the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing arts and learn the Korean traditional percussion quartet, a type of Korean traditional music.
  • (3)Watch a performance
    • Visit the concert hall and watch a musical.
  • (4)Korean cooking class
    • Students learn how to cook Korean cuisine such as Bulgogi and Bibimbap.
  • (5)War memorial tour
    • A field trip/study to learn about the meaning of the Korean War and inter-Korean relations.
