Course Objectives
- Basic
- Students with no or minimal knowledge of Korean learn basic communication skills for everyday situations in Korea.
- -Students learn about the basic pronunciation and structure of the Korean language to acquire basic communication skills.
- -Students learn Korean language skills necessary for everyday life such as greetings others, introducing themselves, ordering food, purchasing goods, making phone calls, taking public transportation, and going to the bank.
- -The Korean Language Education Institute has developed a special online education program, “Click Korean,” in order for students to better understand and take greater interest in Korean.
- Intermediate
- Students with basic proficiency in Korean are taught intermediate conversational skills including vocabulary and expressions necessary for daily life.
- -Students learn communication skills necessary for everyday conversations and learn to speak in both formal and informal settings
- -Students ask and answer questions about familiar topics such as family, hobbies, sports, seasons, travel and experiences.
- -Students may select and take skill-based classes in speaking, listening, reading or writing that help them improve their skills in the respective area intensively.
- Advanced level
- Students with intermediate proficiency in Korean are taught advanced conversational skills including vocabulary and expressions necessary for daily life.
- -Students learn Korean language skills necessary for using public facilities, maintaining social relationships, and completing general tasks.
- -Students correctly understand and fluently express their ideas on abstract, societal topics on the news and in newspaper articles.
- -Students understand Korean culture in depth by learning idiomatic and advanced expressions frequently used in Korean society.
※Classes for advanced learners may not be offered if the number of students does not reach the minimum number.
- Cultural Experience
- The KLEC provides various cultural programs through which students can discover and enjoy Korea’s traditional beauty. Students will be able to directly experience Korea’s unique aesthetic, which combines aspects of both tradition and modernity.
